Public Involvement Goals

What Are The Goals For Public Participation?
Georgia DOT and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) recognize the complexity of this project and expect a high level of interest in its design and implementation. The mission of the revive285 top end public involvement team is to conduct public involvement in a responsible, responsive, and effective manner. The goals for stakeholder involvement for revive285 top end focus on engaging all of the various publics in the project area early in the process and on a continual basis. Listed below are guidelines for public involvement that the revive285 top end project team will follow to achieve these goals.
  • Provide the public with accurate, timely, and relevant information to assist them in understanding the problems, alternatives, and/or solutions.
  • Evaluate public concerns and issues and provide feedback on how the public input influenced the process and the final solution.
  • Involve the public in defining the issues, identifying potential solutions, and selecting a final preferred alternative(s).
When Will Public Input Be Sought?
revive285 top end will follow Georgia DOT’s plan development process (PDP) for transportation projects, which includes adhering to state and federal guidelines. There are several points in the PDP when decisions will be made that impact the course of this project. These decision-making points are project milestones and soliciting public input before these decisions are made is critical to providing the public opportunities to participate in this project and to identifying the most appropriate solutions for the project area.
Key decision-making points include:
  • Identifying issues and opportunities
  • Determining project(s) need and purpose
  • Identifying preliminary alternatives
  • Identifying evaluation criteria
  • Identifying preferred alternatives and strategies (Federal Transit Administration [FTA])
  • Evaluating alternatives (Federal Highway Administration [FHWA])
  • Identifying a preferred alternative
  • Identifying programming and funding
